September Colorado or Black Hills SD snow chances?

I'm thinking of coming from Springfield Missouri area to either Estes park or Durango area Colorado. I may go instead to the Black Hills area of South Dakota. I would love to do either trip.
I am going 9/22/08 - 10/3/08. For the locals out there, is there a big chance of a big snowstorm this part of the year. Am i going at a time where a trip like that would be dangerous?
I will be coming in a 2wd Dodge diesel truck with a 27 foot 5th wheel. I would hate to be pulling that up a mountain pass in the snow!
Thanks for any advice you guys can give, thanks.

RE: opinion request

I have a Puma 253FBS model, very similar, have been very happy with it, i have a few warranty issues to solve this fall at the dealer (normal for most new campers) But for the price, the fit/finish/value was exceptional.

Watch the Revolution On History Channel July 4th!

Starting July 4th at 9 am Central Standard time they are running the documentary "The Revolution" all day long in order. It is a great series, gives you an appreciation for our nation breaking away from England. The risks the Founding Fathers took in declaring independence. Everybody in America should see this.
The series has several parts and runs all day, so DVR'ing the series is a good idea.
Also running before the Revolution is a great series "Ben Franklin" which starts July 4th 7AM central time. Another great series.

SW MO Residents: Worried about Lakes flooded?

Today it is April 2nd:
Beaver lake is at Maximum Flood capacity (can't hold back any more water). Table Rock right now is 10 feet high and they releasing water as fast as they can into Taneycomo which flows into Bull Shoals. Bull Shoals right now is 27 feet high and not far away from being at Maximum Capacity.
With all the rain we have been getting here in the Ozarks, something has to give. Thunderstorms are forecast for Thursday the 3rd. I'm wondering how the Army corps of Engineers will handle releasing all this water, the lakes can only hold so many feet of water. I know most boat ramps and alot of campgrounds are underwater.
You know the old adage: April showers bring May flowers. Heck the lakes are almost full due to February and March Showers!

RE: Branson, MO in May

Branson landing is a neat area to shop at and take a walk around. Make sure you goto the Fish Hatchery underneath Table Rock dam, it is Free, and trust me worth it. Ask any local for directions. Bring a dollar in quarters and feed the trout they raise there and stock in Taneycomo Lake that runs through Branson.
If your a boater, or fisherman....rent a boat downtown branson and get out trout fishing on Taneycomo lake.

RE: Who Loses In the Years Travel Budget?

I personally use Missouri state parks and COE parks around our many lakes here. Most of them are very reasonable 16-20 a night.
However, I will cut some of my driving down this summer, and eat more "hand prepared" cook from scratch food instead of eating out like I have done in the past camping to save a little. This will offset the cost of Diesel fuel I believe.
Eating food you prepare yourself really saves money in this hobby. I know personally I will cut out some things. Maybe work a shift or two a month extra to help pay for my hobby.

Anybody ordered an RV from rvwholesalers.com?

Just curious how the process goes, to me it looks like Building a ordered camper. Pick your options, color, etc and they build a camper and ship one to you.
Questions for buyers at that site:
1) How long does it take them to "build" a camper for you after you order one?
2) how much deposit or whatever does it take for them to order one?
Did the process go well, no BS or added "hidden" fees? I understand say a 200 dollar prep/document fee or whatever, but does the process go well?
Thank you

RE: Camping at Branson MO.

If your remotely outdoorsy at all, take a tour of Sheppard of the Hills fish hatchery below table rock dam. If you are lost ask any local for directions.
The missouri dept of conservation uses this hatchery to stock 80,000 trout a month in Taneycomo lake that runs through branson. If your an angler bring waders and your fly rod. If not and you have kids/family or just you, the hatchery is very big, professional and FREE! Bring about two dollars of quarters and a plastic cup, go get some fish food there they sell, and go out and feed the trout. It is fun even for a 37 year old "kid" like me. Ask the hatchery workers which tank has the "trophy" trout and go feed them. Nothing like seeing a 10 pound trophy rainbow up close.
Great thing to do.
Also, for another thing if your a titanic buff, goto the Titanic museum, they have alot of real artifacts from the titanic. However, it takes about 2 hours to get through if you love history, alot of old cards and stuff from the time of the disaster and artifacts. However it is about 20 dollars a person.
Branson gets your money definitely!
If your wife loves to shop make sure you goto Branson landing, also there is a bass pro shops there for the "men" involved. They have a big fountain that is quite something to see. I like going Around 7-9 PM in the summer due to Missouri heat, then they light it up very nice as well.
I'm sure you can find alot of good info on branson's own website for the city. Just look around, do some searches.
If your wondering what campground, Table rock state Park is a great park. I like Loop # 2, however, that loop isn't full hookups. They do have a full hookup loop, but the sites are really close together.
Do a search on this forum for "branson" you will find alot of info.

RE: Camping Equipment

I'm sure you sick of this, but Honestly the Pen/Yellow pad thing is the best idea ever. Every time I go out and hey i camp once a week in Peak season, I write down something on it to "bring next time"

RE: What a game!!!

One of the best games in Superbowl History I'm so happy the Giants did it. They played them week 17 within 3 points in the regular season.
I think they got a few lucky breaks.
Other superbowl that was a great game was St Louis/Tennessee Titans....where Tennessee missed a score as time ran out by 1 foot.

RE: Reccomendations on ATV/Camping Parks in Missouri

Yes i've camped there....It is a nice state park. I do not own an ATV however, but the park has many dirtbike/ATV riders at it. The trails there must be very nice If your going in peak season better get reservations, the park is very busy being so close to columbia missouri. The park has a bunch of old coal mining lakes that you can canoe/fish on with small boats.
The electric sites are decent, bathrooms are clean...

RE: Missouri campers post here

Table Rock SP loop # 2 is better than the other loops in my opinion, more space between sites. I agree the full hookup loop is WAY to close together. The park is clean and close to branson and attractions. I agree the COE parks around table rock is very nice. Indian point is a good one.
Mill creek is gorgous! Another one that doesn't get used much that is very shady and nice is Cricket Creek COE park, however it is south of branson a few miles...but if you want some seclusion it is worth a look.
